She has just come down from recovery (10 pm) and there were no complications with the surgery.  We will try and get her to get some deep sleep tonight, as she has (stubbornly) stayed awake most of today and is in need of some serious rest.

As the next few days progress, we will be talking with Meg and the staff here at LUH regarding Meg's upcoming rehabilitation.  Based on recommendations from folks here, and on some research we did today, we are going to be pushing for her to be admitted to Craig Hospital in Englewood CO, which is one of the top spinal cord injury rehab hospitals in the country.
Thanks again to everyone for their support and thoughts.

We had a pretty good weekend. Meg was taken out of ICU Sunday afternoon around 4pm.  She is now in Rm 4017 and has much more peace and quiet. She was evaluated today (Monday) by the speech therapist for her ability to properly swallow food and was given a clean bill of health in that arena. This was good news for Meg, as she was growing tired of the pureed food, and now has unlimited menu choices (for what that's worth at the hospital). Further, evaluations by the neurosurgeon and occupational therapist confirm that Meg has use of both her biceps and triceps. This is huge, as it will likely enable her to self-transfer from a wheelchair to other sitting/laying positions. This will be a very important advantage toward being independent down the road.

We are still on target for transfer to Craig Hospital this week, but no date has been given. Visitors continue to come and the offers of prayers, help, and support are non-stop and much, much appreciated. Meg very much enjoys the beautiful flowers that she has received, and she is now able to keep them in her room since moving out of ICU. SBIRs even brought a "Personal Stimulus Package" today which included a bottle of Maker's Mark whiskey and other necessary items to help stimulate Meg (see attached). We'll save these for a welcoming home party after rehab.
